Preparing for your first cuts... measure twice and cut once!

We have our lumber so what's next?  Well, first we take a look at the drawings and make sure we know exactly what we are measuring, cutting, and building!  Since this table is the type where you sit on bar stools and not chairs, you will be making a gaming table that sits a little higher off the ground then your average gaming table.  With a table height of 41 inches this will not be your regular dinning table by any stretch of the imagination.

Here are the initial drawings of the gaming table to give you an idea of what you are actually going to build.  The image below is a top view of the table with the arm rests and leafs added to the table.

The image below is the table with the leafs removed and the arm rests inserted within the table border.

The image below is the table with the arm rests removed from the table.

When we finish this project you should have a table that looks similar to the one shown below "not exactly but close".  The big difference will be our table will have arm rests that are removable from the table surface, an expanding playing area when the arm rests are removed, a base frame with drawers instead of the box shelf under the table shown in the image.

We will also be adding the groove along the side to you can have drink holders and dice towers attached while playing!
